In the Flatiron District and all across the city, our hearts go out to those affected by the building explosions in East Harlem. Likely the result of a gas leak, two deaths and 18 injuries have been reported as of 12:30 PM. FDNY firefighters are currently working to put out the fires and searching the debris for bodies and survivors. Northbound Harlem and New Haven Metro-North lines are temporarily suspended due to the explosion. Since this is a developing story, more details will come to light over the course of the day, so we recommend that you check back for updates.
