Old sneakers never die – when they are worn to tatters, they may actually end up as cutting edge, avant garde works of art in the most unlikely places!  If you don’t believe that, then check out the Flatiron Public Plazas today for an eye-catching treat — an exhibit of some of the most exotic, exciting, and interesting old sneakers you are ever going to see outside of a gym (the Chuck Taylor All Star, if you must know).  Converse, promoting their long-time Converse Classic Sneakers, has an exhibit of well over 20 sneakers, jazzed up with writing, markers, design elements, magic markers, fabrics, plastics and just about anything you can think of. They truly look like works of art!  According to one of the Converse staff on hand, we can expect to see the beloved “Cons” of people as diverse as Andy Warhol and your next door neighbor.  To make things worth your while, Converse has some fancy virtual reality specs that help the creators in their efforts to create these distinctive masterpieces.  Definitely worth a quick look on your lunch hour. If you can’t make it, check out this quick video clip by one of our Flatiron Hot! News staffers.
