The Flatiron 23rd Street Partnership continued its excellent series of free educational lectures, this time featuring Flatiron’s Touro College Computer Technology Program giving an informative lecture on how to set up a small business website quickly and economically. A group of about 40 attendees showed up in the South Public Plaza right in the shade of the Flatiron Building itself, so as to hear all about hosting services, domain names, and CMS Systems such as WordPress and Weebly. The erudite instructor had some helpful design tips, emphasizing the importance of good visuals, including a top-notch logo, as well as the extraordinary capabilities of these entry-level platforms, including the ability, with add-ons and widgets, to offer automated forms, storefront capabilities, and detailed user stats and social media integration. For those looking for more in-depth treatment, of course, consider signing up for Touro’s program on web design and info technology – the program’s director was there to answer questions in that regard.
