By Tod Shapiro and the Flatiron Hot! News Editorial Staff A sweltering summer night in late July served as the backdrop for Jon Cleary’s turn in the excellent Mad. Sq. Park Summer Concert Series, “Mad Square Music,” this past Wednesday evening at 6 PM.  Jon played a short set of some his older music, and gave long-time fans a sneak preview of his upcoming new album.  His popular funk and R&B tunes filled the far reaches of Madison Square Park with some soulful sounds.  By all accounts, the audience approved, if the raucous applause from the crowd and dancing by-standers just in front of around the stage were any indication.
