Plan Your Event in Flatiron and Chelsea – and Enjoy the Rites of Spring, Too!

Reported for the Flatiron Hot! News by Eric Shapiro; adapted from the March 2018 e-mail blast by our sponsor NYC Seminar and Conference Center

Spring is upon us and there is no better time than now to book your event at the New York City Seminar and Conference Center. A short walk from the Conference Center are the many outdoor spaces that offer those coming to NYCSCC an excellent opportunity to enjoy the coming spring season. In addition to the quality our clients have come to expect from us on site, booking an event at NYCSCC also grants you access to the Flatiron District and Chelsea neighborhoods in full bloom and brimming with activities. Don’t miss the chance to combine your spring events with some great outdoor enjoyment as the weather turns!

Madison Square Park itself requires little introduction. It is a frequent and beloved destination for New Yorkers all year round. In addition to being home to the original Shake Shack, Madison Square Park boasts ample benches and tables to enjoy the weather and survey a splendid slice of natural beauty in the heart of the city. The park is an attraction in and of itself, a great place to relax before and after your event.

Seward and the Flatiron Building get ready for the Spring Season!

However, it also plays host to a range of exciting activities and attractions specific to each season, courtesy of the Madison Square Park Conservancy. Find out what’s blooming in Madison Square Park’s resplendent gardens on a series of guided tours offered throughout the spring and into the summer. Feast your eyes on the park’s breathtaking art installations . And, when the weather is warm enough, enjoy a diverse selection of concerts and other live performances.

The Flatiron District is one of the city’s most iconic and happening neighborhoods. Thanks to the Flatiron BID, pedestrians can take advantage of a bountiful offering of events that accommodate all interests. Check out the Flatiron pedestrian plaza for a stunning view of the iconic building that gives the historic Manhattan neighborhood its name (make sure not to trip over the tourists!). If nothing else, it makes for a great Instagram or Facebook post.

In the Flatiron District, there is always something to do. And, at NYCSCC, we pride ourselves on keeping ourselves and our clients apprised of what’s going on in our community, so always feel free to ask our staff for details on bars, eateries, and events in the Flatiron District. Check out the Flatiron Hot! News , our sponsored hyper-local blog for a quick run-down of new places, events, and news about our district! Check here for a full itinerary of upcoming events throughout the spring (make sure to adjust the range of dates according to your specifications). And of course, there’s always the Flatiron District Free Walking Tour to keep tabs on the ever-evolving status of our dynamic neighborhood.

The Flowers in Bloom in Mad Square Park!

Finally, spring is the perfect time to take in the High Line Park . NYCSCC is a short walk away from the High Line, a verdant public park located over a repurposed train track that snakes its way through the west side of Manhattan, offering a stunning view of the city and a bountiful selection of plants that reach a crescendo in spring. The High Line’s planting design is inspired by the self-seeded landscape that grew on the out-of-use elevated rail tracks during the 25 years after trains stopped running. The species of perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees were chosen for their hardiness, sustainability, and textural and color variation, with a focus on native species. Many of the species that originally grew on the High Line’s rail bed are incorporated into the park’s landscape.

NYCSCC – the perfect place for events large or small!
